Florida Forest Service To Take Over Campaign

Florida Forest Service logo
We would like to send a huge shout out to Florida Forest Service for their willingness to host the 2020 WFLDP Campaign for the months of August and September.

During this portion of the campaign, they will highlight some facets of the WFLDP and what makes it go. We will utilize the toolbox, work under the context of the from the field for the field, and work on some things that expand our sphere of influence to change the culture (force multiply).

Check back every Friday in August for a specific campaign challenge.

[Be prepared by obtaining the movie "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" and the book "Mandela’s Way."]

When Given Lemons, Make Lemonade

(Photo: Kyle Miller/Wyoming IHC)

The crew is done with the Little Book Cliff Fire. It was a good fire to do a test run of our logistical planning.

There was a push for crews to be more self sufficient this year with food. There are few things more important on a hotshot crew than good nutritious food. Besides helping recovery and fueling crew members through strenuous days, good food is tied to high moral and attitude. These are things we knew when we started the planning process in late March.

In My Summer Prince (2016), Mandy tells Deidre, a public relations executive, she wants to be her assistant. The exchange in the impromptu interview leads to the following paraphrased discussion:

Deidre: Where do you store your ketchup?
Mandy: In the refrigerator.
Deidre: Why?
Mandy: Because the bottle says to.
Deidre: So why do restaurants keep it on the table?
Mandy: [confused look]
