In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.

Is it more beneficial and appropriate to "do the right thing" or to "Do something?

Many leaders and supervisors spend to much time, and at points critical time, wondering about if the decision they are about to make is the right one or wrong one. By the time a decision is made it becomes out dated or the critical moment for the decision is lost.

Time is the factor that determines if a decision was right or not. The hind-sight, results of the decision and ultimately the outcome determine whether your decision was correct or not.

A good leader will make a decision, evaluate it's effectiveness and correct actions as necessary.

So I propose that it is not the importance of making the "right" decision that is as important, but "making" a decision in a timely manner that is the key.
