Buenos Aires NWR, FWS
Honored for Motivation and Vision
Sullivan is being recognized for his leadership on the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. As well as a
dedicated mentor and training instructor, Sullivan is regarded as a servant leader
by fostering relationships with local communities and landowners surrounding
the refuge. These relationships have established a cohesive leadership
environment that protects the very communities in which he serves. Shawn's work
with his local fire department to secure a grant for a heliwell ensuring
helicopters have a dip site closer to active wildfires is a prime example of
vision for a better framework for all.
Additionally, Sullivan is commended for his work, and that of his crew, to build relationships with the children in Sasabe, AZ. Sullivan's example and servant heart allows students from all levels to learn about wildland fire and the opportunities that may exist when they are older. Being a positive influence in the lives of others benefits not only the children but also the communities in which they live. Sullivan exemplifies the dedication, commitment, and passion that has the power to positively affect the USFWS and the wildland fire community.
Congratulations, Shawn, on a job well done!
